Message From The President – November, 2019

Dear ASSP Colleagues,

For most of us, safety is more than just a job that we go to each working day. Safety Awareness Week in Alabama is November 11-15, 2019

Nationally, approximately 150 US workers are killed on the job every day.  Here in Alabama the OSHA Area Offices in Birmingham and Mobile reported the following deaths state-wide:

  • 2016 – 32
  • 2017 – 29
  • 2018 – 21
  • 2019 – 18

Please join our fellow safety and health professionals throughout the state in getting the message out!

October Chapter Meeting

28 members and guests gathered at the AGC offices in Irondale, Alabama for our regular Chapter meeting on Friday, October 18th.  Due to an emergency, our scheduled speaker was not able to be present, however Program Chair Shawn Ankerich filled-in admirably with an interactive discussion about “Managing the Safety Process”.

We were joined by representatives from the Auburn University Student Section who made the trip to Birmingham on a Friday morning to expand their knowledge and network with our professional members.
