Job Description – Manufacturing Quality Manager
Location: Trussville, AL
Salary: $85,000 – $95,000
Supervises: Quality Technician
Purpose
The Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality (SHEQ) Manager oversees the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS), safety programs, and environmental compliance. This role ensures products, processes, and facilities meet regulatory, customer, and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Serve as final authority on product quality and shipment release.
- Lead internal and external audits; coordinate customer and vendor audits.
- Address quality issues with vendors, customers, and internal teams.
- Audit quality documentation and verify compliance with standards.
- Conduct quality audits, report findings, and manage corrective actions.
- Review customer complaints and ensure resolution; monitor trends.
- Oversee quarantine, rework, scrap, and vendor return decisions.
- Manage calibration of measurement equipment.
- Support process improvements and documentation updates.
- Develop and enforce safety procedures aligned with regulations.
- Prepare reports for safety, environmental, and quality compliance.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable environmental and permit regulations.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field preferred.
Certifications (Preferred)
ASQ CMQ/OE, Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), ISO 9001 Lead Auditor.
Experience
- 10+ years in SHEQ or related field
- 5+ years of management experience
Skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of quality and statistical tools
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Strong organizational and analytical ability
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods, use office equipment, and occasionally lift 10–20 lbs. Must be able to interpret data and perform analytical calculations.
Other Requirements
Regular travel to manufacturing, customer, and vendor sites.
