ASSP Tuscaloosa Section December Meeting

Hello ASSP Tuscaloosa members and friends,

Following our May meeting, we decided to take the Summer off and resume our meetings in Fall.

Our next meeting will be on Thursday, December 4^th , from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm.

This time we’ll be meeting in the UA FORTE building (Facility for Outreach, Research, Training and Education).  It’s just off 15^th street (Veterans) at the overpass to Bryant Drive.                                         Street address:  1408 2nd Ave, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.  Free parking is available in front and in the much larger adjacent lot just north of the building.

Our speaker will be Solomon Ajasa on “The Aftermath: Construction Safety in Post-Disaster Context”. Following the presentation, we’ll host a tour of the new UA FORTE training facility for those who wish to learn more about this new learning resource in Tuscaloosa.

Solomon Ajasa is a doctoral researcher in the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at The University of Alabama and recipient of the 2025 ASSP Foundation Scholarship.  His research explores data-driven approaches to occupational safety and risk mitigation, particularly in extreme weather impacts and post-disaster reconstruction.  Solomon is passionate about teaching, training, service, and public speaking. He has designed safety training programs for construction workers and industry professionals and is committed to turning academic research into practical solutions that protect workers and communities.

PLEASE NOTE:  Lunch will be provided to all attendees.  You do not have to be an ASSP member to attend, so feel free to share information about our Section meetings with your colleagues who may benefit by attending.
